JD350C and 355 LOADER STEERING CLUTCHES
The John Deere Model 350C's below serial #
752882 originally used 8 FRICTION DISCS T43436 and 8 STEEL SEPARATOR PLATES p/n
T21315. When later 350C'S , Ser# 752883 and up, the steering clutches used 6 PAPER FACED
FRICTION DISCS per clutch P/N T120864 to replace the earlier style Bimetallic discs.
Quantity 9 STEEL SEPARATOR PLATES, P/N T120865 were used in each steering clutch.
Both the late style friction discs and steel separator plates were thicker than
previously used. Most of the time you can get by with only changing the friction discs.
The steel separator plates can usually be re-used. Check them for roughness, warping, or
dishing and if they are clean, smooth, and straight, by all means re-use them! When
upgrading to the newer design and mixture of discs, JD recommends doing both sides but I
am at a loss as to why changing both sides is necessary. If someone can enlighten me
I'd WELCOME THE EXPLANATION! If it is simply a downtime precaution, based on the
theory that one clutch will wear at the same rate as the other and doing both would
perhaps save having to get into the machine a short time later, that may be wise. Occasionally we get calls regarding "complete" steering
clutch kits. The term, "Complete Kit", is misleading because it implies that the
parts supplier knows what you need for your clutch. They don't!! (And...not
all"Kits" being offered by different parts suppliers are even the same!!) ORDERING INFO: All items below are in stock and if you would like to get any of them on the way just let us know!
